About Us
Our Mission
Delaware Field Hockey Association (DFHA), founded in 2020, is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization based in Middletown, Delaware, but our network spans all parts of Delaware. We have varying levels of play (fun and competitive) for adult men and women 18 and above. We also offer training clinics and 1:1 coaching for youth players in Delaware, ranging from middle school and high school players on occasion.
DFHA works to bring adult field hockey opportunities, such as pickup, leagues, tournaments, and club team travel tourism, to Delaware. We also partner with preexisting communities, companies, and clubs already in place throughout the state of Delaware, working to reintroduce players of all playing levels and nationalities or to introduce adults to hockey for the first time (especially our male players). We also invite graduating high school or college players to the world of adult hockey. We network and partner with other field hockey associations and clubs nationally and internationally to create or participate in unique playing offerings.
We strive to bring more opportunities for adult hockey to the state for men, women, and children. You can join or help support the association by donating or sponsoring our cause through our menu above.
DFHA Founded
Delaware Field Hockey Club begins. DFHC wins its first sevens travel tournament in Pennsylvania. The non-profit is founded in the spring, and we hold our first summer pick-up league at DE Turf masking up during the pandemic.
First Official Year
DFHA has its first women’s team appearance at the USFHL National Club Championship at Virginia Beach. DFHA runs its first Summer 7’s League at DE Turf, a Fall Round Robin Night Tournament at DE Turf, practices, and various travel tournaments like BFHA’s Beach Bash as things open back up.
Catching Our Stride
Up and Running
DFHA has its first men’s team appearance at the USFHL Regional Club Championship in Virginia Beach and another women’s appearance, qualifying us for a third year at the USFHL National Club Championship Tournament. DFHA player Alexa Conway is awarded the Golden Stick for her tournament performance. Two DFHA teams playoff and win at the BFHA Indoor Tournament. DFHA hosts its first Drop-In Spring League and travels to the Miami Cup for a second year. DFHA runs its third Summer 7’s League at DE Turf and its second Drop-In Adult Summer League named the Delaware Power League in partnership with youth program Empower at the University of Delaware.
In Full Stride
DFHA will attend the Regional Club Championship and USFHL National Club Championship Tournament this spring. DFHA will host a second year of the Pick-Up Spring League and attend Beach Bash for a third year. We are still working to solidify an annual travel team tournament and vacation opportunity for our squad. DFHA runs its fourth year of our Summer 7’s League at DE Turf and its third year of Drop-In Adult Summer League, the "Delaware Power League" at the University of Delaware. We also plan to host our first tournament in June at the University of Delaware to help teams prepare for the USFHL National Tournament.
